چکیده

How animals acquire, store, update, and use spatial representations of their environments for localization and navigation is one of the central questions in Cog-nitive Science and Neuroscience. Design of robust algorithms for spatial learning for mobile robots for exploring a-priori unknown environments is one of the key problems in robotics and artiicial intelligence. This paper describes some approaches to acquiring, representing , retrieving, and updating spatial maps using sensory as well as motor measurements in a biologically inspired model of spatial learning.

The Effect of Visual Representation, Textual Representation, and Glossing on Second Language Vocabulary Learning

In this study, the researcher chose three different vocabulary techniques (Visual Representation, Textual Enhancement, and Glossing) and compared them with traditional method of teaching vocabulary. 80 advanced EFL Learners were assigned as four intact groups (three experimental and one control group) through using a proficiency test and a vocabulary test as a pre-test. In the visual group, stu...

Image Classification via Sparse Representation and Subspace Alignment

Image representation is a crucial problem in image processing where there exist many low-level representations of image, i.e., SIFT, HOG and so on. But there is a missing link across low-level and high-level semantic representations. In fact, traditional machine learning approaches, e.g., non-negative matrix factorization, sparse representation and principle component analysis are employed to d...

Cognitive mapping are mental pictures of the attributes of our surroundings. Cognitive maps provide us with a model or guide of our surroundings that we can utilize. When we make Cognitive maps, we regularly prevent data that is not significant or unrelated. This implies that our Cognitive maps can vary from the real environment that we are mapping. cognitive maps make it simpler for us to revi...

Fusion of Thermal Infrared and Visible Images Based on Multi-scale Transform and Sparse Representation

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, combination of these two types of images is essential for better understanding the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images have most importance to distinguish targets from the background based on the radiation differences, which work well in all-weather and day/night conditions also in land s...

A Multi-Strategy Spatial Navigation Model in a Text-Based Environment

Cognitive maps have been used to explain the cognitive processes underlying human spatial memory for several decades. Numerous theories have offered explanations regarding the structure of cognitive maps from the perspectives of spatial cognition, visual perception, and neuroscience. Within this literature, two representations of cognitive maps (map-like representations and route-based represen...
